Obituary of Pierre Theodore

Pierre Theodore was born September 21, 1921 in Strezevo, Macedonia to Menka and Yanko Talevski and passed away March 3, 2013. Pierre came to the United States at the age of 16. He was always proud to say "I am Macedonian by birth but American by choice." After serving in the United States Army in World War II, he entered New Haven Culinary School. After graduation he moved to Paris, France and graduated from Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute. While living in Paris, France, Pierre took a break from his culinary skills and graduated from L'Oreal School of Cosmetology. He returned to Akron and opened Pierre's Parisienne Room which he owned and operated for many years. He then returned to his first love and retired from Firestone Country Club as Executive Head Chef. Pierre was a founding member of St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church, a member and past president of the Macedonian Businessman's Club, a member of the Christian Orthodox Council of Akron, the Akron Chef's Association and a life member of VFW Post 1089 in Wadsworth, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Spiro; nephew, Vasco; and niece, Mary. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Joanne; sons, Michael (Cathi) of South Carolina, John (Karen) of Wadsworth and Pete (Lisa) of North Royalton; daughters, Rebecca of Georgia and Debby Selle of Norton; grandchildren, Kelly Theodore, Tracy Farrar, Andrew Selle, Dominic Theodore, Anthony Theodore and Coleman Theodore; brothers, Paul (Donna) and Nede (Sika) Televski all of Akron; sister, Denise (Iliya) Karanfilov of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Edward Parisi, Copley Health Care Center and the Hospice Nurses. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron where a Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 7th at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church, 555 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio where Pierre will lie in state one hour prior to service. Fr. Vlado Bakurdzhiev officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Romig Rd. in Akron, Ohio.
