Obituary of Roberta S. Ballard
Roberta S. Ballard, 94, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2017.
Born in Louisville, KY on June 23, 1922 to the late Robert & Mary Stober, Roberta had been an Akron resident since 1942. She was an active member for over 50 years at St. Matthew Catholic Church, where she served as a sacristan. She was also a member of the St. Matthew Council of Catholic Women, Southern Region of the National Council of Catholic Women, Legion of Mary, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She worked for many years at at Rubber-Latex Co. in Cuyahoga Falls. Roberta was well known for her work at the bazaars and for her pies, nut rolls, and cabbage rolls.
In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Allen; brothers Thomas, Frank, & John Stober; sisters Doris Kuhn & Ruth Spagnuolo. She is survived by her sister Mary Rose Tabellion & brother Marvin (Martha) Stober; sister-in-law Mary Jo Stober; nieces Kathleen (Larry) Eberle, Annette Tabellion, Victoria (John) DeMarko, Marian (Dick) Stolzenburg, Carol (Gene) Heim, Julianne (Greg) VanHoose, Jeannine (Thomas) Washer, Jennifer (Scott) Loomis, & Janelle (Weston) Bush; nephews William (Cecilia) Spalding, John (Elizabeth) Stober, Nick Tabellion, David (Linda) Tabellion, as well as many great nieces & nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to June & Charlotte Scherer, Kathy Dawson, and all of those who helped care for Roberta.
The family will receive friends on Friday, 5-7 pm, with a Legion of Mary Rosary immediately following, at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 10:00 am, at St. Matthew Catholic Church 2603 Benton Ave. Akron, OH 44312. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
