Obituary of John Ellis Haubert

John Ellis Haubert born December 27, 1963, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2012. As a teacher, administrator and coach in the Cuyahoga Falls City School District for 23 years, John had a special gift for reaching out to kids in need. By listening and talking with students on their own level and treating them with respect and genuine interest, John mentored and shaped many young men and women. John was a proud, independent man. He lived by his own principles and stood by his convictions. He believed in enjoying life to the fullest and had a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He treasured good times with good friends. He loved trying his luck in Vegas and was happiest playing 18 holes on a sunny summer morning at Brookledge where he worked as a Parks and Recreation employee for many years. John was a devoted son, a beloved brother and uncle, and a loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. Haubert. He is survived by his mother, Kathryn, his brothers, Mark (Jane), Matt (Kathy), and Tim (Mary), his sister, Katie, his nieces Melissa (Mark) Torisky, and Toni Haubert, his nephews Mitch (Sherry), Pete, Joe and Timothy Haubert, great nephews Cian and Brendan Torisky, and his best friend, Buster. Though ended much too soon, John's life touched the lives of many, and he will never be forgotten. Many thanks to Visiting Nurse Hospice Staff for their compassionate care of John in his final days. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Private interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) in Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family request that those who wish consider a donation to the John Haubert Memorial Scholarship. c/o Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation, 431 Stow Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
