Obituary of Frank Dettorre
Frank Dettorre, 93, passed away peacefully on February 12 in Cuyahoga Falls.
Born in Blairsville, PA on April 23, 1919 to the late Donato & Maria Dettorre, Frank had been an Akron resident for nearly 60 years. Frank was an extremely proud veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany during WWII. Frank was retired from the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. and was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Frank loved cards and enjoyed playing with family & friends.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Josephine (Tomei), and his brothers Andrew, Joseph, John, Lewis, Henry, and Albert. He is survived by his sisters Mary (John) Vukman & Ann Pavell; niece Virginia Babb & nephew Chuck (Chris) Hudkins, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to both the Gardens of Western Reserve and Hospice of Summa for the excellent care given to Frank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Ralph Thomas on Friday, February 15, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church 1580 Brown St. Akron, OH 44301 or to the Hospice of Summa 444 N. Main St. Akron, OH 44310.
