Obituary of Mona E. McLaughlin
Mona Eileen McLaughlin, 88, of Akron, died Monday, October 31, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Barberton, Ohio to the late Joseph and Florence (Crusoe) Fick on April 19, 1928. She had been an area resident for all of her life and was a loving and nourishing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the church Altar and Rosary Society, St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Kenmore Senior Group. She was also a volunteer at the Interval Brotherhood Home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Edward; and brothers, Richard and Donald Fick. She is survived by her only son, James J. McLaughlin of Barberton; only granddaughter, Bridget McLaughlin; Bridget’s mother, Rita McLaughlin; sister, Louise (Ronald) Olenick all of Green; brother, Larry (Donna) Fick of Barberton; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Pebble Creek, especially Cathy, Charlotte, Bryan and Robyn who lovingly cared for her.
Funeral service prayers will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2101 17th St. S.W. Akron, Ohio 44314 (corner of 17th St. S.W. and Battles Ave.) Fr. Michael B. Smith officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Interval Brotherhood Home, 3445 S.
