Obituary of Steven Melvin Jacobs

Steven M. Jacobs, 57, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2016 after an eleven-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Steve also spent time in both Chicago and Cincinnati. He loved to travel and always sought to get a thrill out of life. Throughout his battle with ALS, Steve kept his spirits high with his humor and desire to continue living life to its fullest. He leaves behind a family who will forever celebrate his courage and strength. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Katherine Jacobs, as well as his older sister, Lyn Refakes. Steve leaves behind his brothers, Richard Jacobs, Robert (Bo) Jacobs, and sisters, Kathy (David) Burns and Colleen (Kenny) Noall as well as his brother in-law Eugene Refakes; nieces and nephews, Matthew Refakes, Kristin Refakes, Chris (Laura) Burns and Jackie Noall; great niece and nephews, Brendon Thomas, Joseph Chicoine, and Makenzie Burns who most certainly filled the past few years with fun and laughter. Memories made with Uncle Steve will be cherished forever. He also leaves behind many other beloved relatives and friends who helped make his days brighter. Steve would want everyone to know he is now free of pain, running around with his loved ones and most importantly using his own fork and spoon! The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Monday, October 31 at the Anthony Funeral Homes, McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave (at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, at the funeral home, with entombment immediately following at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
