Obituary of Galen Whited
Galen Whited, 81, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his home.
He was born in Saxton, Pennsylvania and retired as a self-employed
painter. He was a member of the Navy Reserves, Painter's Union Local 841
with 51 years of service where he was also a longtime officer,
Adoniram-Joppa Grand Lodge 517 F & AM, Allenside Athletic Club,
Fraternal Order of Eagles 555, Army & Navy 250, Firestone Park VFW Post
3383 and American Legion Garfield Memorial Post 566. Mr. Whited was also
involved with the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation.
Special thank you to special friend and companion, Billie Hornig and to
Summa Hospice at Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mildred Whited;
wife, Lillian; and brothers, David and Jim. He is survived by his
children, Sandra (Ronald) Berringer, Pamela (Mark) Murphy, Jeffrey
Whited and Donald Whited; grandchildren, Cassandra Berringer and Ron
Berringer, Jr.; niece, Julia Elina; and nephew, David Whited.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral
Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301
where the family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until time of service.
Pastor Josh Deeter officiating. Interment will be private. Donations may
be made to Summa Hospice at Home, 525 E. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44304.
