Obituary of Patricia Ann Gmerek

Patricia Ann Smerekanich (Gmerek), 69, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was born in Akron, was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a graduate of Garfield High School Class of 1965. Patricia was a legal secretary for Grisi and Budde Attorney's at Law retiring in 2012. She was a lifelong Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, a phenomenal cook and a fantastic mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna (Corbett) Smerekanich; companion, John Muzljakovich; and aunts, Viola Melnik and Christine Hackett. She is survived by her sons, Eric and Christopher D'Attoma; brother, Greg (Susan) Smerekanich; first cousin, Gerri Edwards; the "Hell's Cugini"; niece, Kelly Smerekanich (fiance, Chris Howland); nephew, Andrew (Susan) Smerekanich; and great-nieces, Anna and Leah Smerekanich. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. Akron, Ohio 44301. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301.
