Obituary of Floyd Alan Ackerman
Floyd Alan Ackerman, 80, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016.
Born on April 11, 1936 in Akron to the late Floyd & Ida Ackerman, Floyd was a lifelong area resident. He worked for over forty years as a meat cutter for ACME, retiring in 1998. Floyd enjoyed woodworking, camping, traveling, but most of all, he loved taking care of his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and a longtime member of Akron Baptist Temple.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Stewart, second wife Carol Reid; siblings Russell, Helen & Alice. He is survived by his wife Judy Feeney; children Floyd A. II (Cathy), Jeffrey (Kathy), and Laurie (Mark) Nassau; grandchildren Brandise, Brittany, Geoffrey, Brielle, Jacob, Brenna, Benjamin & Nicholas; many great-grandchildren; sister Marguerite; brother-in-law John Feeney; and many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws.
The family is grateful to the staff at Bath Creek Estates and Senior Independence Hospice for their compassionate care of Floyd.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 2 from 2-5 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park will follow.
