Obituary of June Lenore Buie

June Lenore Buie (Sims) went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2016. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with her loving husband of sixty six years James C. Buie, Jr. June was born October 25, 1929 to Thomas E. Sims and Jessye Sims. She attended and graduated from Akron Kenmore High School in 1947. She worked at O'Neils Department Store and Portage Lake Pharmacy in Coventry. She was a lifelong member of the Akron Baptist Temple, where she sang in the choir for over fifty years. She also taught Sunday School. She met her husband James there. June never met a stranger. She loved life and loved to laugh. She loved her husband and children deeply as well as her dog, Bisky, who had a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Jessye; her brothers, Thomas, Richard and Larry and his wife Gayle. She is survived by her husband, James C. Buie, Jr.; sons Mark (Gretchen), & Stephen (Sharon); daughter, Lori Lemons (Dennis); grandsons Shane Buie (Nicole) James C.Buie, III, & Andrew Buie; granddaughters Lindsay Zimmerman (Brian) and Meredith Soduk (Alex) great grandson Malcolm; great granddaughters Stella & Claire; and sisters, Carmine Henniger, Wanda Erbse (Wayne), & Nancy Grove (Marvin). Calling hours will be held Friday, September 30 from 4-7 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
