Obituary of Iris Irene Strebler
Iris I. Strebler, 86, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 16, 2016.
Born in Akron to the late George & Theresa Marion on October 29, 1929, Iris was a lifelong area resident. She married Gerald Strebler in 1949; to Iris, family was everything—she devoted herself to her five children. Iris enjoyed knitting & loved a challenging crossword puzzle. She had a passion for gambling—penny slots that is. Iris also retired from the City of Akron Health Department after many years of service. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerald; sons Thomas & William; grandchildren Paul & Laura Schott; and sisters Doris Schueller, Roberta Jolliffe, and Joan Jackson. She is survived by her daughters Diana (John M.) Schott, Linda Strebler & Janet (Tom) Eidmann; grandchildren Elizabeth A. Sherman, Kathryn J. Blomquist, Joseph A. Schott, Sarah Eidmann, Carly Eidmann, Heidi Cuffe, Keili Smith & Hunter Eidmann; and great-grandchildren Julia, Andrew, Rachel, Ethan, Lillian, Lucas, Taylor, Elizabeth and Brooke.
Special thanks to her longtime physician and friend Dr. Brad Everly for the love & care he provided.
