Obituary of Genevieve Marie Thomas-Kerr

Genevieve M. (Nichter) Thomas-Kerr, 92 went home to God Thursday, September 1, 2016. Born in Fort Wayne, IN to Annette (Botchie) and Clement J. Nichter on July 15, 1924, she lived in Akron. Jenny was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church until moving to Green in 2002. At St. Paul she was a member of the Ladies Guild, Mission Circle 13 and served as president of K of C Wives. She was also a member of Firestone Park Prime Timers, AARP 1715, LCBA and Slovak Sokol. Jenny attended St. Paul Grade School and was a graduate of Garfield High School. She was employed as a secretary at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. until marrying Vincent J. Thomas with whom she spent 54 years until his death in 2000. Together they lovingly raised six children Mary Anne (James) Davis, Jim (Darlene) Thomas, Patricia Thomas, Kathleen (Luther) Hoagland (both deceased), Theresa (Dave) Biscan and Rose (Tim) McCafferty. Jenny lived to see 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. In 2002, Jenny married her second husband, Robert J. Kerr, Sr. who also predeceased her 6 months ago. Robert brought to the new marriage his 5 adult children Laura Kerr, Peggy (Jeff) Schobert (both now deceased), Robin (Randy) Harvey, John (Mary Beth) Kerr and Robert (Karen) Kerr, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. The family will receive friends TODAY (Saturday) 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green, entrance off of Steese Rd.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:00 pm at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown OH 44685.
