Obituary of Anna C. Matheny

In loving memory of Anna Matheny, age 50, who passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Anna was born on October 26, 1965 in Cuyahoga Falls and attended Cuyahoga Falls High School graduating in 1984. The baby of her family, one of seven children to Donovan and Madge McGrady, she was a very special aunt, sister, friend, niece and devoted mother to her daughter Megan. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Anna was a devoted employee of Cleveland Electric Laboratories in Twinsburg for many years. The outpouring of love and support she received from her work family through her illness was astounding. She considered all bosses, management and co-workers her friends. Anna's family thanks them for their generosity during this difficult time. Those who knew Anna know that she loved being around family. The bond she had with each family member was undeniable. She especially enjoyed her great-nieces and great-nephews who held a special place in her heart. Family gatherings were always top on her list of things to do. She will be remembered by those who loved her for her sense of humor, the way she laughed at things and the way she talked. Anna was a very unselfish person who always put others before herself. Even through her uneasy journey, she was more concerned for her family than for what she was going through. "God is taking care of me. I'm in the shelter of his hands. Here there is no sorrow, no pain. Here there is no crying and I will never hurt again." Thank you to the staff at Dr. Stephen Andrews' office and the staff at Summa Barberton Hospital Acute Palliative Care Unit for their support and for taking such loving care of Anna and her family. Anna was preceded in death by her father, Donovan; mother, Madge; sister, Diane; and brother, Chuck. She is survived by her daughter, Megan Matheny of Cuyahoga Falls; brothers, Ralph McGrady of Cuyahoga Falls, Ron (Kristin) McGrady of Rootstown; and sister, Lynda (Steven) Smith of Cuyahoga Falls; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.
