Obituary of Frank D. Maggio

Frank D. Maggio, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in Wadsworth, Ohio. Frank was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 14, 1926 to Antoinette and Michael Maggio. From the time he was a young boy, Frank had a strong work ethic. He was co-owner of Microfilm Data Systems (CMC) Corporation, which began in 1963. Frank was a proud Army veteran of World War II and served in New Caledonia. He had a lifelong passion for baseball. As Frank would say, "There is no other game." He loved his Cleveland Indians and told us recently, "This is their year." He took up golfing in his mid 50's, and it became his second love, but by far, his greatest LOVE was for his family. He bestowed not only love, but knowledge and wisdom to all of his children and especially to his grandchildren. They adored him and will cherish the memories, especially him playing "Santa" for over 35 years. His wish on every birthday card to "Do Good, Be Good, Be Happy" will be with them forever. He was a devout Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Akron. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers - infant Joseph, Dominic, Joseph, and his wife Anna. He is survived by his twin sister Anna of Brooklyn, NY, his children - Paula, Michael (Jenny), Frank (Paula), Lisa (Tom), Mary (Pete), John (Marygail), Ann (Sam), 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren – all who loved their "Nanu". The family will receive friends Sunday, August 7, from 3-6PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will begin with prayers, 10:30AM Monday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2101 17th St SW in Akron. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Interval Brotherhood Home 3445 S Main St, Akron, OH 44319 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
