Obituary of Helen Tarr
On a beautiful moonlit evening, the 29th, our mother made the journey we all have in common. Having celebrated her 90th birthday, she was blessed with a clear mind, sense of humor and was fearless when it came to voicing her opinion. Mom always thanked her God for the day she was given.
Leaving a promising career in banking, mom began a full time career as a homemaker; over the next 35 years, raising five children, Michael (Dale), Steven, Sheila Tarr Buehler (David), David (Gayle) and Gerry (Patty). Mom accepted the role of grandma in 1975 and welcomed Bryan and Kylie (Stauffer), Geran, Kirsten, Jeremy Tarr, Annalisa (Buehler) and Matt, Nate and Alyssa Tarr to the fold.
Thru the years mom was active in her church, St. Peter Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society, later joining Immaculate Conception. She was also active in the cub scouts (den mother), Hoban H.S. Mother's club, her Pinochle club and close knit group of friends she socialized and vacationed with and supported thru the decades.
Mom became matriarch of the family 17 years ago following the death of her husband, our father, Steve, after 54 years of marriage. Mom laid to rest her father, George White, her brother-in-law Hank Mondle, mother Juila, grandson Bryan and sister Irene Mondle. Mom is survived by brother George (Linda) White and nieces and nephews.
In her later years, mom read the Beacon front to back, always the Acme ads for deals and, let us say, she enjoyed her chocolates.
