Virginia M. Koehler Obituary
Virginia M. Koehler went to heaven on May 17, 2016. She was born in Akron to Mary and Charles Lucas on March 19, 1930.
After graduating from Garfield High School in 1947, Virginia attended Hammel Actual Business School and was employed by Ohio Edison. In 1950, she married William Koehler and raised their three children while living in Silver Lake. Virginia was a past president of the Tire Town Chapter of the National Secretary Association and was honored as Secretary of the Year in 1981. She worked at BF Goodrich as an executive secretary for many years and retired in 1989.
Virginia was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and playing bridge with her many friends. After retirement, she traveled extensively overseas and earned her Life Master in duplicate bridge. She volunteered at EJ Thomas Hall and Akron General Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children Linda (Pat) Sullivan of Wadsworth, Laura (Lenny) Dienoff of Jacksonville, Fla. And Alan (Shanda) Koehler of Pucellville Va. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Christine (Steve) Hrovat, Emily (Jose) Krings, Jessica Sullivan, Charles and Rachel Miller, Savannah and Mason Koehler, three great grandchildren, Lila and Paige Hrovat and Henry Krings.
We would like to thank her extended family at Arden Court for all of their love and care throughout her stay there. We are thankful for the care provided from Crossroads Hospice.
A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron OH 44301. Procession will form at the church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul Church.(Anthony, 330-724-1281, anthonyfh.com)
