Obituary of Carol Joanne Bruner

Carol Joanne (Keller) Bruner, 69, of Akron, surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with our Lord on May 16, 2016. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles Keller and Leona (Novak) Keller, and sister Rosemarie Keesy. Carol is survived by her husband of 49 years, George Bruner, the love of her life and her three daughters; Georgia (Don Brooker), Charlene (Craig Polasky), and Carol (Terry Hunt Jr.). She is also survived by sister Robin Keller (Jerry Grams), brothers; Michael Keller (Barb) and Bruce Keller (Nora), her grandchildren; Christopher, Cynthia, Ashley, Chase, and Chloe along with several nieces and nephews. Carol, a faithful servant, devoted wife, and loving mother was born in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Springfield High School. She met her husband George, who was serving in the military, through a pen pal program. A devout Christian and life-long member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she dedicated most of her time volunteering in several areas including youth education, community outreach, and most recently serving as the church treasurer. Carol truly loved her role as the office manager for Action Super Abrasive for the past 15 years where she developed so many wonderful friendships. Selfless in the way she lived her life, Carol never allowed a holiday, birthday, or anniversary to go by without sending a card with a personal note. Friends and family are invited to bring their favorite photo and/or favorite memory of Carol to share during her Celebration of Life Service, which will be held Thursday, May 19 at 4:30 PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St in Akron, where the family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 PM. Immediately following the service, the family will continue to visit & remember Carol until 6:30 PM. Private interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Carol's favorite charities: Haven of Rest Ministries, PO Box 547, Akron, OH 44309-0547; The Salvation Army of Summit County, ATTN: Marian Calvin, 190 South Maple Street, Akron, Ohio 44302; or to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2254 Triplett Boulevard, Akron, OH 44312-2357.
