Obituary of Michael Sczerba

Michael Sczerba, 95, a life resident of Akron and Tallmadge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Bath Creek Estates Health and Rehabilitation Center. Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; father and mother, Wasyl and Anna; brother, Walter; and sisters, Anna, Pauline, Mary Ackerman, Helen Ruffing and Eva Nelson. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Melissa) Sczerba of Urbana, Illinois and Daniel (Audra) Sczerba, of Clarksburg, West Virginia; granddaughter, Alexis; step-granddaughter, Robin; grandsons, Owen and Patrick; nieces, Eve (Rick) Nelson-Tavenier, Ruth Ruffing and Martha Adams; nephews, Robert Bresky, Richard (Carmen) Bresky of Louden Tennessee and George (Dolly) Pultea of Madison, Alabama; and many beloved cousins and friends. Mr. Sczerba was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Mogadore, Ohio and the RBO. Michael will lie in repose at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 755 South Cleveland Ave., Mogadore, Ohio 44260 where the family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, memorials may be made to the St. Nicholas RBO Scholarship Fund or to the St. Nicholas Cemetery Fund.
