Obituary of Will Jay Boykin
GREEN - Will J. Boykin, 91, of Green passed away May 1, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 25, 1924 in Mayfield, KY to John and Addie (Copeland) Boykin. He proudly served his Country as Private in the 671st Tank Destroyer Unit during WWII in the South Pacific. Upon returning home, he drove for Deluca Distributing Company for 39 years, was owner of Bill's Tavern in Randolph, Ohio for 25 years and was a Special Deputy with the Summit County Sherriff's Office for 25 years. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and a member of Retired Teamsters Local 348. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed playing Euchre at the Tavern with friends.
Will joins his beloved wife of 46 years, Geraldine (Cardarelli) who preceded him in death January 29, 1994. also proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Jim and Hank, sister Florence and best friend Stephen Barry Sr. He is survived by his loving daughter Linda Roversi, granddaughters, Krista (Steven) Norman, Laurie Roversi and great granddaughter Brittany Norman; son John Boykin, grandchildren, Scott, Carrie and Robert (Mariah) Boykin; sister in law, Linda Cardarelli; nieces and nephews and special family friends Ilene Barry and family, Ted Sheets and Earl Elliott, Jr.
The family is grateful to Dr.Barbara Bailey and staff for their special care and VNS Hospice staff.
The family will receive friends Friday 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green, entrance off Steese). A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 10:00am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown OH 44685.
