Obituary of Mary Patricia McCrossin
Mary P. McCrossin, loving mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother, passed away peacefully March 29, 2016, while surrounded by her family.
Mary was born on March 17, 1929 to the late Charles & Virginia Jacobs on 4th Street, making her a true lifelong Cuyahoga Falls resident. During her teen years, Mary went away to the Convent to devote her life to God, but before she could make her final vows her mother became gravely ill. While Mary was at home taking care of Virginia, she met the love of her life, Eugene F. McCrossin. They married and together raised a family of seven wonderful children.
Though her life's vocation changed a little, Mary was still a devote Catholic, and a lifetime member of St. Eugene Catholic Church, where she participated in many church activities. She was also a professional dancer and enjoyed ceramics, and baking. Above all else, Mary loved and supported her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. The love she gave as a mother is invaluable—she made every effort for her kids to help them to become the people she knew they could be.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene; siblings Charles, Johnny, Jimmy and Jane; son-in-law Terry Moneypenny; and grandson-in-law Marvin Shih. She is survived by her children Jeannie (William), Bobby, Pam (Eddie) Stratford, Kim Moneypenny, Sherry, James (Christine), Christina (Hassan), Greg, & Terry; grandchildren April, Jimmy, Trisha, Christina, Zachary, Khloe, Amanda, Emily, Leah, Paige, Denise & Carolina; great-grandchildren Ashley, Britney, Jordynne, Titan, Kaylee, Rocky, Gabriel, Tinley, Aidan, Trinity & Charlie; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
The family is grateful to Dr. Roger Chaffee for taking such wonderful care of Mom.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10 from 3 to 6 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) in Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, April 11 at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
