Obituary of Naomi J. Hunnell

-CUYAHOGA FALLS Naomi J. Hunnell, 85, went home to heaven to sing with the angels on January 27. Born in Akron on September 9, 1927 to the late Carl & Mildred Walter, Naomi grew up in Akron and was a 1945 graduate of North High School. She was a longtime member of the Stow Community Church and in her early years, worked in the corporate offices of Lawsons. Naomi was a talented and accomplished vocalist, singing with: the Mother Singers, Village Belles, Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus, Forever Harmony, the Old Spice Trio (she always said, 'she was the old one'), and the Stow Community Church Choir. In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her beloved husband Russ. She is survived by her children Michael (Sandra) Hunnell, Carol Sue (Gary) Koehler, & Patrick Hunnell; brother Albert (Yvonne) Walter & sister Carol Ann (Don) Tuck; grandchildren Michael, Scott, & Kimberly Hunnell & Steve (Tricia) Watson, Stephanie (Lyle) MacAdam, & Stacie Harvey, as well as 12 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the Staffs of New Horizons and the Merriman, as well as family friend Sue Hamilton, for the loving & compassionate care given to Naomi. A memorial service will take place on Thursday at 7:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL, 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd St., one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
