Obituary of Larry Gene Kollar

Larry G. Kollar, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home. Larry was born May 17, 1937 in Akron and had been an Akron area resident his entire life. He was employed by Ohio Edison as a surveyor for over 39 years retiring in 1994. Larry was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic Minister and drove the shut-in van for St. Paul. Larry was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3410 where he served as Secretary and Treasurer. He golfed and bowled on the K of C leagues and was a regular volunteer at the K of C fish fries as long as he was able. Larry was preceded in death by his son Michael and brothers James and Wayne. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Alice; children Daniel (Carol) Kollar, Joan (Chris) Grispin, Kathryn Meszaros, Anthony (Sheri) Kollar, Patricia (Danny) Fogle and Jerome (Christine) Kollar; sisters Janet (Gene) Holloway and Rita (Joe) May; grandchildren Stephen, Samuel, Elizabeth, Kristine, Mary (Steve), Kara (Dominic), Kevin, Cody, Kelly, Zachary, Bethany, Adam, Megan, Dylan and Andrew; great grandchildren Lena, Colton, Dominic and Gavin; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday 4 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron where a K of C Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday 10:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton Ave., Akron, OH 44312. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mad to CYO Adult Daycare, 812 Biruta St, Akron, OH 44307.
