Obituary of Charles Richard Davis
Charles Richard Davis (Rick) died unexpectedly Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the age of 63.
He was the son of Charles and Grace Davis who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Meech (Dale), niece Tammy Czarnota (David), and nephew Gerald Meech.
He will be greatly missed by many friends: Dick Barger, Dick Gran, Rick Migdal, Swish, Dean Maple, Denny Muphy, Bill Haser, Fred Borden, Jimmy Mansfield, Woody, Charlie, Danny Finelly, Sue Fassnacht and many more.
He graduated from Garfield High School in 1970. The passions of his life were his friends, bowling, and golf. For many years he was manager of Colonial Lanes. He was inducted into the Summit County Bowling Hall of fame in 1989 and the Tri-county Hall of Fame in 1990. His accomplishments included past member and twice club champion at Prestwick Country Club and member of the ADGA. He won 2 state bowling championship with the Kent Lincoln Mercury team consisting of Ron Bell, Tom Suchan, Bill Gaume, John Keith, and Chris Neidert and 2 state doubles championships with Ron Bell and Chris Neidert. Rick was the creator of the infamous “Zatz Club” at Portage Lakes.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301 followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m. Private burial will be held at a later date. Donations in Rick’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
