Obituary of Gertrude Allen Bahry

Gertrude A. Bahry, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Green. Gert was born in Kenvil, New Jersey on August 1, 1920 to the late Willard & Winifred Cramer and moved to Akron with her family as a small girl. She married James Bahry in 1941 and was a remarkable mother to their five children. A devote catholic, Gert was a founding member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she remained an active parishioner well into her 90s. She also volunteered at IBH, and was a member of the Green Senior Citizens Club, the Young at Heart Club and two euchre clubs. Gert inspired all with her selflessness and unconditional love; she will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Gert was preceded in death by her husband James in 1985; and sisters Winifred McMahon & Mary Zielinski. She is survived by her children Hylem (Donna) Bahry, Dianne (Art) Johnson, James (Terry) Bahry, Bill (Maggie) Bahry, and Sue (Jim) Bowman; brother Willard (Pat) Cramer; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces & nephews, many special friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 24 from 2-6 PM at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green, entrance off of Steese Rd.). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM on Monday at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, OH 44685, with Fr. David Durkee officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Queen of Heaven Building Fund, or to the Interval Brotherhood Home, 3445 S. Main St. Akron, OH 44319.
