Obituary of Clyde W. Jandecka
Clyde W. Jandecka passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Ohio Veterans' Home in Sandusky after a short illness.
He was born and raised in Firestone Park, and graduated from Garfield High. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was held as a POW in Germany. In 1958 he helped establish the Y.K. Rod Club, a family and sportsmans' club in southern Ohio. He loved spending time there with his family and friends. Clyde retired from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in 1978. He was a long-time member and former Elder of the Firestone Park Christian Church and also received his 60 year pin from the Coventry Masonic Lodge.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents Florence and Anthony, brother Robert and sister Mary Esther. Clyde is survived by his loving and caring family: his wife of 66 years Dorothy; sons and daughters Linda (Gene)Rohrbough, David (Annabelle)Jandecka, Sally (John)Duffy, Sara (Rick)Simmers, Bill (Mary)Jandecka; grandchildren Amy (Brenda)Brooks, Felicia (Brenda)Brooks, Darlene (Graham)Gill, Jeanine (Dave)Gritzer, Zachary (Samantha)Rohrbough, Erin and Lauren Simmers, Hunter and Heather Jandecka; and great grandchild Adrianna Rohrbough.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the nurses, aides, social workers, activity directors and Stein Hospice nurses and aides for the loving care that was given to Clyde at the Ohio Veterans' Home in Sandusky for the past 3 years.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 15 from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm at the Firestone Park Christian Church, 40 E. Wilbeth Rd., Akron, OH 44301. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials for the Music Fund in Clyde's name at the church. A private military inurnment will be held at a later date.
