Obituary of Helen A. Bailey
Helen A Bailey (Konya), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend died peacefully on Friday, January 04, 2013 at 94 years of age.
Helen was a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio where she graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Benkes Business College. She worked for the National Youth Administration and Miller Rubber Company. She later worked for and retired from Polsky's Department Store. Helen and her husband, John Bailey Jr., owned and operated Bailey's Taproom in Akron.
Helen was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and was one of the famous "Kugeloph Bakers".
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John Bailey Jr., parents George and Helen Konya, son, Robert J. Bailey, sister, Rose Hengstenberger, and great-grandson Zachary Feldscher. She will be deeply missed by her children Patricia (Charles) Riegler and John (Carol) Bailey and sister Mary Luber; grandchildren David (Eve) Riegler, Karin (Bruce) Hohl, Donald (Rada) Riegler, Beth Riegler, John (Ann) Riegler, Kristen (Dirk) Emrick, Cheryl (Nicholas) Owens, Jacqueline (Chris) Temming, Tracy (Steve) Feldscher, Bobbi Jean Bailey as well as 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Teresa Morris and the staff at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living for the love and care they showed Helen.
Calling hours will be TODAY, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral service will be held Monday, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
