Obituary of Irene Patricia Heffernan

Irene P. Heffernan, 86, passed away, Saturday, December 29, 2012 after a brief illness. Irene was born July 25, 1926 to Ignatz and Theresa (Stefanosky) Kroska in Akron and had been an Akron resident her entire life. She was a 'Rosie the Riveter' for Goodyear Aircraft during the war. She was a transportation specialist for Weaver Schools for over 40 years where she spoke her mind and loved her kids. She loved the slots mostly in Vegas but wasn't particular. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 1991 and siblings Steve and Katherine Kroska and Theresa Macko. She is survived by her children Charlene Givens, Richard (Mary Jo) Schmidt and Karen Heffernan; grandchildren Timothy (Heather) Givens and Ross Scarsellato and great grandchildren Evelyn, Lauren and Stuart Givens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 2, 2012 from 4 to 7 Pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron OH 44301 and will end with a Memory Service at 7:00 Pm. Interment will take place Thursday at 11:00 Am at Holy Cross Cemetery. (Anthony, Akron,330.724.1281,anthonyfh.com)
