Obituary of Richard N. Siwik

Richard N. Siwik, 75, went home to our heavenly Father on 8 Feb 2012 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 1, 1936, in Akron Ohio and he graduated in 1954 from St. Mary's High school. Richard dedicated 21 years to the Ohio National Guard and retired as E-6, Staff Sergeant. He retired from Western Southern Life after 30 years. Richard was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 3410. Richard was a devout Catholic and member of St. Augustine's parish. He lived a full and active life, devoting time to his family and his friends. He spent his retirement years by traveling with his wife and his favorite past times included working at Dayton's Nursery, fishing, golf, and the Cleveland Indians. Richard is preceded in death by his parents: Nick & Anne Siwik. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara, his children: Major (select) Lisa Siwik, Mark (Lori) Siwik, Gary Siwik, John Siwik; his brother, Dennis Siwik; and his grandchildren: Melissa and Maxwell Siwik. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the Knights of Columbus Council #3410 will pray the Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth Street, N.W., in Barberton. Interment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center of the Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333.

Visitation

The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the Knights of Columbus Council #3410 will pray the Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth Street, N.W., in Barberton. Interment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
