Obituary of Edna C. Cunningham
Edna C. Cunningham (Lear), 74, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus surrounded by her loving family on December 23, 2011 in time to spend Christmas in Heaven this year.
She was born September 8, 1937 in Portland, Tennessee and was a resident of Cuyahoga Falls most of her life. First and foremost she worked as a full time Mom for her five children until they graduated. She then became a Nursing Assistant and retired from AGMC where she enjoyed caring for patients. She loved Music and loved to minister in song to area churches with the gospel group God's Promises. Edna always had a story about her children or her grandchildren as they truly were the pride and joys of her life.
Waiting at Heaven's gates to welcome her home is her husband, James Cunningham and daughter, Deborah Vollmer as well as her sisters, Lilly Bell, Dorothy Dunn, her brother, Bill Eden and a host of other friends and family to join in the homecoming. Left to cherish her wisdom and memories are daughters, Bev King (Stan), Brenda McKnight (Bob), Carol Fletcher (Bruce) and son, Larry Cunningham (Lucretia); grandchildren, Chris McKnight (Randy), Connie Vasbinder (Bill), Russell Vollmer, Jay Carder (Cheri), Chris, Andrew, Ryan and Lizzy Jacobs and Jamie and Jimmy Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Abby, Billy, Zoe and Everett; special grand dogs, Mickey and Rudy; sister, Geraldine Wooten of Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Falls Village Retirement Community for their loving care of Edna for the past four years. Also, to the staff of 2 West at Summa Western Reserve who were angels to our family in our time of need.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron where funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, at 11 a.m. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. (Anthony Funeral Homes, Akron, 330-724-1281, www.anthonyfh.com)
