Obituary of Ethel Mashek

Ethel Mashek, 100, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, in Akron. Born in Akron on August 15, 1911 to the late Andrew & Mary Segedy, Ethel had been a lifetime Akron resident. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church for over 55 years and was a volunteer there in the school lunch program for many years. She was also a member of Ladies Aid. Ethel enjoyed cooking and baking and loved to pass on her skill and recipes to her family. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Steve and 4 siblings. She is survived by her sons Pastor John Mashek of Akron and Carl S. Mashek of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren Sheryl Ann Plath, Daniel (Dawn) Mashek, Steven Mashek, and Kimberly Ann Mashek; great-grandchildren Nicholas & David Plath, Christine (Ron) Cordrey, Matthew Mashek, Christopher Sipe, and Tyler & Hannah Meshak. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Zion Lutheran Church 139 S. High St. in Akron, where Ethel will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Joshua Schoon officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. memorial Contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church 139 S. High St. Akron, OH 44308.
