Obituary of Grace Marie Hanes
Grace Marie Hanes, loving mother, grandmother, and sister, went home to be with the Lord on December 16, at the Palliative Care Unit of City Hospital.
Born in Parkersburg, WV on January 10, 1919 to the late Thomas & Myrtle Scott, Grace had been a resident of Green for nearly 70 years. She was a longtime member of the Greensburg Church of God. Grace was a kind and compassionate person who cared deeply for others, especially her family. She was also a faithful Christian & a hard-working & independent woman. Grace enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her son David & her former husband George, as well as 6 siblings. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Ralph & Sue of Akron and Ron & Debbie of N. Canton; grandchildren Michelle Hanes-Csaky, Mike (Stacy) Hanes, Dan (Lauren) Hanes, and Penny Rose; great-grandchildren Brian, Alyssa, Leah, and Michael; sister Mary Lou Tharp.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Green Chapel, 4178 Massillon Rd. (located at Rte. 241 & Steese Rd. in Green). A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Greensburg Church of God 4691 Massillon Rd. in Green. Pastor Mike LeMay officiating. Interment will follow at Greensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greensburg Church of God 4691 Massillon Rd. Green, OH 44232.
