Obituary of Ruth D. Palmieri

Ruth D. Palmieri (Smylie), 89, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012. She was born in Akron, was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Firestone Park Prime Timers and AARP Chapter 1715. She worked at Firestone during World War II and retired from Fazio's. Her life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren and her interests included baking, cooking and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse B. and Salome (Simon) Smylie; husband, Joseph; daughter, Linda Jo; brother, Jack; and sister, Rosemary. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Jo and David Looney; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Mark and Anne Palmieri; and grandchildren, Allyson, Matthew (Lisa), Meaghan, Abby, Joseph and Steven. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron where the family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Deacon Frank Lonteen officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
