Obituary of Dorothy Mae Bodnar

Dorothy Mae Bodnar, 97, passed away on October 18, at Akron General Medical Center. Born in Pennsylvania on May 24, 1914, Dorothy first worked as a teacher, before working to assemble airplanes during WWII. While working in the factory she met her husband Michael, to whom she was married for 42 years, until his death in 1988. Together they raised 5 children. Dorothy had been an area resident since 1964. She was a member of St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church in Akron. She is survived by her children Cynthia (Tom) Misanko of Uniontown, Michelle Etheridge of Stone Mountain, GA, Beverly Bodnar of N. Canton, Darlene Bodnar of Corpus Christi, TX, and Michael (Michelle) Bodnar of N. Canton; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as sisters Elsie Miller of PA, Marian Dunkle of CA, and Patricia Rupert of PA. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Rick Gordon on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. The family will receive friends starting at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church 282 West Bowery Street Akron, OH 44307-2598.
