Obituary of Dorothy Dilworth
Dorothy Dilworth, 90, of Litchfield Park, Ariz., died Oct. 6 at Litchfield Park Assisted Living Home of vascular dementia.
Mrs. Dilworth was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Akron, Ohio, to Helinka "Nellie" and Metalevich "Matey" Hrynik, the youngest of six children.
After graduating from East High School in 1939, she worked as a nurse's aid at Akron City Hospital, as a product inspector at American Hard Rubber, and then at Goodrich Tire and Rubber, where she made ropes for barrage balloons during World War II. In 1944, she married U.S. Navy sailor Earl Willard Dilworth, also a native of Akron. They lived briefly in Newport, R. I. When the Navy shipped her husband overseas, she lived with Akron relatives. In 1949, the Dilworths bought a house in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where they raised their two children (and lived throughout retirement.) Mrs. Dilworth returned to American Hard Rubber from 1955 to 1960, then began office work in bookkeeping and records at Bank of Akron (now PNC), from which she retired in 1986. Mrs. Dilworth was a quiet, honest, hard-working woman who enjoyed sewing, crocheting and dancing. She moved to the Phoenix area in Arizona in 2009 to be near her daughter for care.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, who died in 1993, and four brothers, Michael, Elmer, Andrew and Paul Hrynik.
Mrs. Dilworth is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Theodore) Ingalls of Goodyear, Ariz.; one son, Michael Dilworth of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Helen Munson, of Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Matthew) Peick of Eagan, Minn., and Theodore (Tami) Ingalls III of Peculiar, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Wyatt Peick of Eagan, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.
A Committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Fri., Oct. 14, in the mausoleum chapel at Northlawn Memorial Gardens on State Rd. in Cuyahoga Falls. Memorial donations may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
