Obituary of John M. Mehalko

John M. Mehalko John Mehalko, 75, passed away with his family by his side, on September 25, at the Hospice Care Center in Copley. Born in Akron on November 29, 1935, John had been a lifetime area resident. He was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. John proudly served his country in both the US Coast Guard and Navy. He was employed by General Tire for 24 years and also worked at the Portage Country Club for over 20 years, where at both, he leaves behind many dear friends and co-workers. John loved all sports, especially bowling and golf. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Michael and his sister Joyce. He is survived by his wife Darlene of Akron; children Vince (Beth), Theresa, and Sharon (John) Kolinoff; grandchildren Tony (Kristyn Syroid), Olivia, Mathew, Darci, Angelo, Megan, and Maria. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6-8 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
