Obituary of Linda Lee Mothersbaugh

Linda Lee Mothersbaugh (Smith) is finally at peace after a brave 3 year battle with cancer. She passed into the gardens of Heaven on September 15, 2011, lovingly surrounded by family and lifelong friends. Her unshakeable faith in God granted her the optimism, humor and strength not only to endure, but comfort everyone around her. She will be remembered for her bright smile, her infectious laughter, her quiet strength, her limitless generosity, her unconditional acceptance of everyone she met, and the sheer joy in her heart when it came to being a mom and grandma. Linda was a 1959 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and attended the Hammel Business College. While working at Great Falls Employment Agency, she met Gene, her husband of 36 years. She later worked in the Cuyahoga Falls School system as a well-loved secretary, first at Dewitt, then later at CF High School. She was a faithful member of PAWS and MAWS and The Cuyahoga Falls PTA, where she met her cherished friends. She was a member of North Haven Covenant Church and The Brady Lake Methodist Church, where she participated in choir and the quilting club. Linda enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, her Cleveland Browns, watching and scoring her boys' softball games, and any excuse to gather with family and friends. Over the years, Linda "adopted" countless friends of her boys, and never passed up the chance to be a surrogate Mom to many of the kids who touched her life. Linda is preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents Frank and Anna Smith, and her brother Kenny Smith. She is survived by her sons, G. Allen (Kristin), Daniel (Katie), Jeffrey (Jennifer), her 4 grandchildren, Cooper, Edie, Josie, and Gabriel, and nephew Dale Smith and his children Matt and Cassandra. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1-3 and 5-7pm at the McGowan-Reid and Santos Funeral Home at 3rd Street on block north of Portage Trail, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11am with Rev. Ed Peterson officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
