Obituary of John M. Meszaros
John M. Meszaros, 87, passed away on September 8, at Wyant Woods in Akron.
John was born on May 21, 1924 to the late John & Theresa Meszaros, in Glen Alum, WV. He served his country as a member of the US Navy during WWII. John retired in 1986 from the US Postal Service, where he worked as a clerk.
He was a member of St. Francis Desales Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for over 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3410, as well as the DAV. John volunteered extensively over the years at Pebble Creek Care Center, the Red Cross, and Mobile Meals
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Eugenia, grandson John Caley, as well as 7 siblings. He is survived by his children Marilyn Slevin of Akron, Judy (Charles) North of Barberton, Theresa Caley of Akron, and John M. of Hartville; Sister Helen Snyder of Fostoria, Ohio; grandchildren Gary Slevin, Bill Slevin, Steve Caley, John Meszaros, Lauren Meszaros, as well as great-granddaughter Elayna Caley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-4 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Francis Desales Church on Manchester Rd. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
