-CUYAHOGA FALLS David Smith, 90, passed away on July 18, at Maison-Aine in Stow. Born in Akron on November 5, 1920 to the late George & Florence Smith, David had been a lifetime area resident. He was a graduate of Garfield High School and later served his country in the US Army Signal Corps, during WWII. David retired in 1978 as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service. He was known around Cuyahoga Falls where he delivered mail as 'Smitty the Mailman'. After retirement, he worked for 19 years at O'Neil's. He was a Mason & a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, daughter Sandra Crock, great-granddaughter Jacqueline Smith and siblings Alfred, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, Harry, and Anne. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law David L. Sr. and Sharon Smith of Stow;v son-in-law Edward Crock of Columbus and sister Eileen Jackson of Akron; grandchildren David Jr. (Kim), Mark (Heather), Ryan (Lauren), and Sean (Meredith) Smith, Marion (Jeff) Lawless, Cassandra (Bart) Borak, Heather (Ben) McMillen, and Danielle (Steve) Kiefer, as well as 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL (at 3rd. St., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls), where a funeral service will take place following the visitation at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls.
