Obituary of Anthony Joseph Colant

Anthony J. Colant (Tony), 81, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic. Tony was born February 23, 1930 to Mario and Providenza (Bonde) Colant in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He attended Hower Vocational School and was a cabinet maker for Brown and Graves Lumber and Ken-Ed Cabinets. He finished his career as head of maintenance at St. Francis de Sales Church and School, retiring in 1996 after 18 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales and K of C Council 3410. He was also a veteran of the Army and served in battle during the Korean War. Tony is survived by his beloved wife Anita (Krissovich); children Mary Ellen (Mark) Gauer of Canal Fulton, Debbie Pinas of Barberton, David Colant of Fairhaven, MI, Anne (Robert) Alderman of Green, and Anthony (Stephanie) Colant of Canal Fulton; grandchildren Christopher and Lauren Pinas, Mark and Marissa Gauer, Amanda (John) Young, Katie, Carly and Andrea Alderman and Andrew and Jonathan Colant; great grandchild Jaxson Cunningham; siblings Joe (Maggie) Colant, Vince (Shirley) Colant, Joanne (Jim) Ballway and Judy (Tom) Hafler. Tony, a talented cabinet maker and master craftsman, loved spending time in his woodshop with his loving wife and grandchildren. His happiest moments also included camping with family, friends and the Midwest Coachman Club, and frequent visits to Rex's Salvage. He was very generous in sharing his time and talents with others and will be deeply missed by many. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14th at 9:30 am at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko- Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 13th from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will take place TUESDAY, JULY 19, 2011 at 12:30 pm at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
