Obituary of Joseph Marvin Smith

Joseph Marvin Smith, 84, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his home. He was born in Akron and was a lifetime member of Life Spring Christian Church of Akron where he also served as a Church Elder. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ohio Edison after 40 years of service, was an avid golfer and a dedicated father. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Agnes; and second wife, Jane Talbot Smith. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, William Joseph and Rose, Robert Marvin and Terrence Lee and Janet Smith; and grandchildren, Brian (Lindsay), Beau, Ben, Jesse Lee (Rikki) and Taryn Smith. Cremation has taken place. Private interment of ashes will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Life Spring Christian Church. Rev. Terry Baker officiating.
