Obituary of Gracie G. Scott

GREEN - Gracie G. Scott, 91, passed away Friday July 8, 2011 at Pebble Creek Care Center. Gracie was born April 15, 1920 in Glen, WV. to James C. and Lassie A. (Dillard) Nottingham and had been a Green resident since 1967. She had been a member of the former Green Baptist Church where she took care of the nursery for 30 years. Gracie loved children and carried out her responsibilities as a mother and grandmother with love and ingenuity. Her ability to rewards good behavior instead of punishing bad is fondly remembered by her family. She liked canning, gardening and never missed her soaps. Gracie was preceded in death by her husband James Russell Scott, Sr.; siblings Curtis, Edith, Ruby, Romie and her stepson David; and is survived by her children Versa (Travis) Phipps, Edna (Willie) Toney, Carl (Cecelia) Barnett, , Delmas (Patricia) Barnett, Dessie (Richard) Koeth, Harold "Wayne" (Linda) Scott, and Russella Dodson; siblings Rena Holcomb, Vesta Kise and David, Melvin and Donald Nottingham; stepchildren James (Nancy) Scott, Robert (Kay) Scott and Rondal (Janice) Scott; 39 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren The family will receive friends Monday 4 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Green Chapel, 4178 Massillon Road (on the roundabout at the intersection of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green).
