Obituary of Violet M. Hill

Violet M. Hill, 89, went home to be with the Lord on June 20, at Summa Western Reserve Hospital. Born in Houtzdale, PA on May 21, 1922 to the late Conchetto & Filomina Marcelli, Violet had been an area resident for most of her life. She was a member of the Broadman Baptist Church for over 51 years, where she organized the Sunday morning social following services for many years. Violet truly loved her church and was known well there for her feisty personality. She was active for over 25 years selling Avon and later real estate in Cuyahoga Falls. in the '40s & '50s, Violet traveled throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Texas with a traveling medicine show. Violet loved to sing and had her own country-western band: Kitty Lee and her Melody Rangers. She also sang on WJW Radio in the late '40s. In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Sherman Dale Britten in 196_, and husband of 41 years, John Hill in 2010; grandson Tommy Woy, as well as 8 siblings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Dale and Jack Woy of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren Sherry (Tom) Williams of Mooresville, NC and Natalie Hatchett of Akron; great-grandchildren Christy (Brett) Haynes and Shane and Brittany Williams; great-great-grandchildren Layla & Landon Haynes; sisters Virginia Williams of Cuyahoga Falls and Carrie Moore of Clearfield, PA. The family will receive friends TODAY, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL, (at 3rd. St., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls). A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Chris McCombs on Thursday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Broadman Baptist Church 350 E. Bath Rd. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
