Obituary of Roy Hales

Roy Hales, 78, went home to the loving arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on June 3, 2011. He was born in Akron, on December 19, 1932 and was a graduate of West High School. He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Roy attended the Chapel, where he was a longtime member of the choir. He retired as a deputy of the Summit County Sheriff, as well as the Akron-Canton Airport, where he worked in Field Operations. Roy was preceded in death by his father James Walter Hales, step-father & mother Joseph & Mary Schultz, sister Gloria, brother Bobby, and his beloved wife Barbara in 2002. He is survived by his children Roy Hales II of Akron and Karen (Thomas) Scully of Wooster; grandchildren Steve, Bobby, & Sarah Scully; siblings Jenny Gradyan and James Hales; Uncle Bill Zdicham and family friend Joyce Meadows. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 6, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Jim Mitchell on Tuesday, June 7, at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritans Purse P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000.
