Obituary of George Martin Cunningham
George Martin Cunningham left this life peacefully on April 29, at Hospice Care Center, with family by his side.
George is preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Kate, and his brother Bob (Robert) Cunningham. He leaves behind his loving sister Helen Maggio, son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Diane Cox, devoted granddaughters Kim Lorenz (Doug) and Eva Holler (Larry), cherished great-granddaughter Audrey Holler (Audi), sister-in-law Ethel Allred, dear niece Georgia Lee Ziegman, special nephew Chip Maggio (Holly) and nephews Bob Cunningham, Dave Allred (Diane), Dick Allred (Chris), many great nieces and nephews and special friends Gert and Gabe.
George served in the US Navy during World War II. He retired from BF Goodrich with 37 years of service. While at Goodrich he was President of the URW Local 5 from 1967 to 1974. He served in many offices at the local, including tire division chairman and executive board member. He was also a member of the Masonic Adoniram-Joppa Lodge, #517.
George traveled with his wife Kate all over the U.S. until her death in 1990. He was affectionately known as "Gramps" by his grandchildren and Sunday dinners at his house were a common event. He had a special smile that was reserved only for his great-granddaughter, Audrey. He had a love for family and will be deeply missed.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Rev. Max Beery officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
