Obituary of Mary A. Wright

Mary A. Wright, 87, passed away March 15, 2011 at Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls Nursing Home. She was born in Divina, Czechoslovakia to the late Joseph and Maria Stefanka, and at the age of 7, came to the United States with her mother and sister, Josephine; reuniting with her father and settling in Akron. After graduating from secretarial school, she was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 41 years. Mary was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. On September 6, 1948, she married the late Jake E. Wright. Mary enjoyed traveling and sending postcards along the way. She visited nieces and nephews across the country, often staying with the Wright family in California and also vacationed in Nevada, Florida and West Virginia. At home, Mary enjoyed gardening; she was always giving out bouquets of flowers or starts of plants and had an extensive collection of dolls, plates and knick knacks. The family would like to thank the Altercare staff of Cuyahoga Falls for their care of Mary; especially, Rita Butler who always remembered Mary's birthday with a cake. Mary was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Maria Stefanka; husband, Jake E. Wright; brother-in-law, Martin Streharsky; and friend, William E. Smith. Survivors include sisters, Josephine (William) Larrison, Helen Streharsky and Irene (Steve) Streharsky; brothers, Frank (Helen) Stefanka and Joseph (Verona) Stefanka; and she will be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard - St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Reed celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
