Obituary of Frank Batschyk
Frank Batschyk, 86, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Pebble Creek Care Center in Green.
Frank was born in a small village near Lipa, Poland and had been a resident of the Cleveland area for more than 50 years. After leaving Poland in 1940, he worked in Germany during World War II. In 1950, he and his family emigrated to Australia where he worked as a tram driver and assembly line worker for a automotive company. In 1958, he and his family emigrated from Australia to the United States. In 1964, he became a naturalized citizen. He was a welder for American Tank and Fabricating for 22 years before retiring in 1982. He attended St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in Parma.
He leaves his beloved wife Olga; daughters Irene Washington, Orysia Carroll, and Mary Ziegler; grandchildren Jon (wife Kristin) and Michael Washington; Heather, Paul, and Gretchen (Husband Michael Meros) Carroll; and Victoria Ziegler; great grandchildren Alec, Aaron and Alaina Washington, and Riley and Lily Carroll.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 7, 2011 from 10-11am at St. Josaphat Ukranian Catholic Cathedral, 5720 State Road, Parma, OH 44134. A Divine Liturgy will take place at 11:00am at the Cathedral with Rev. Claudio Melnicki officiating. Interment will be at Woodvale Cemetery located at 735 Engle Road in Middleburg Heights.
