Obituary of Kristina Tina Rogers
KRISTINA "Tina" ROGERS
Surrounded by friends and family, Kristina Rogers passed away Sunday evening in her home after a year long battle with cancer. Three weeks shy of her 55th birthday, Tina left us with many memories, especially her positive outlook during her last year and will not be forgotten.
Born in Akron to the late Harve and Despina (Anton) Bates, Tina spent most of her life in Green. Although she operated Tina's greenhouse, for over 20 years and had many loyal customers, she'll be remembered most for what she often stated she was most proud of, being a mom to her three children. Whether it was being one of Green's original soccer moms, attending an Indian Maidens event, or planning a classroom holiday party as a room mom, Tina took great pride and enjoyed being a mother.
Tina extended her love and kindness to others. Rarely did a child leave her greenhouse without their own complimentary flower to plant, and she donated hundreds of flats of vegetable plants to charity. Holidays were a special time. Everyone was welcome at Thanksgiving or to enjoyed homemade Christmas cookies while sitting under dozens of Christmas bulbs hanging from her ceiling. No one left her home hungry. Her guests were often treated to her homemade recipes which included canned fruits, vegetables, and sauces. Tina was a mother and friend to many, and will be missed.
She is survived by her brother, Carl Bates, companion, Rob Dumke, children Nathan (Angelique) Rogers, Nikki Rogers, and Justin Dumke. Her family appreciates and is thankful to all friends who assisted with her care. Special appreciation goes to Dr. Mahesh and his staff, and Hospice of Summa for their excellent care.
Calling hours will be this Friday from 5pm to 8pm and Saturday from 11am to 1pm at Anthony Funeral Home on S. Main St. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cooper Cancer Center c/o Summa Foundation Attention: Foundation Department, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44309-2090.
