Andrew Durinsky, 98, passed away on March 8, at Sterling House in Barberton.
Born in Akron on October 4, 1912 to the late John & Susan Durinsky, Andy had been a lifetime area resident. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He retired as a mechanic from the B.F. Goodrich Tire & Rubber Co. Andrew was a proud WWII veteran of the US Army and fought in both the European and Pacific Theatres. He was a member of the Allenside A.C. , Kenmore Senior Citizens, and the VFW Post 3383.
In addition to his parents Andrew was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna; brothers John & Michael and sister Elizabeth Bartko. He is survived by his son Stephen (Susan) of Barberton & daughter Marilyn (Michael) Pickett of Albequerque, N.M.; grandchildren Stephen II, Jessica, & Laura Durinsky
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Homes KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, where military honors will conducted by the Kenmore American Legion Post #449.
