Obituary of Raymond George Anderson
Raymond G. Anderson (Osback), 94, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011.
Raymond was born February 8, 1917 to Gustaf and Edith Osback in Akron and had been an Akron area resident his entire life. Preceded in death by his wife Frances (Hanzel) Anderson in 2010 and his first wife Helen (Jones) Anderson in 1970, he is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law John (Kathie) of Farmington Hills, Michigan; Dr. Tom (Roberta) of Brecksville, Ohio; and Paul (Deborah) of Fairlawn; grandchildren Lisa (Tom) Sklenicka and Dr. Todd (Shannon), Erik (Mary), Evan, Kurt, Jason (Alison), Kevin (Melissa) and Christopher (Jana) Anderson; great grandchildren Sean and Tyler Sklenicka and Carter, Claire, Lauren, Kyle, Jacob, Isabella and Gabriel Anderson.
He served in the U. S. Army with the 467th Engineering Company during World War II at Omaha Beach, the Remagen Bridge, and Battle of the Bulge. Raymond was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. After 34 years he retired from BF Goodrich Aerospace where he helped design and build pressure suits for the Mercury Project astronauts.
The last three years of his life were spent at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living in Barberton, Ohio. The family expresses their appreciation for their kind and loving care.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 6th Street NW, Barberton, OH 44203. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 4:30 to 7:30 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustine Church.
