Obituary of Anna Baughman

Anna V. Baughman Early Saturday morning, the twelfth of February, Anna Vera Csonka Baughman passed peacefully from this life at the Hospice Care Center in Akron, Ohio. Born in Blacklick, PA on August 24, 1927, she had been a long time resident of Akron where she met and married her husband Ronald D. Baughman, on August 7, 1954. Anna and Ron relocated to Des Moines, Iowa in 1981 where they lived for 27 years, after which Anna moved back to her long time home of Akron. Married for 53 years until Ron's passing in April of 2008, Anna was the proud mother of four daughters, Lisa (John) Merriam of Des Moines, IA, Carol Baughman of Akron, OH, Patty Asbury of Akron, OH, and Suzanne (Robert) DiMenna of Huntington, CT.; and one son, Ron (Michelle) Baughman of Charlotte, NC. Her presence was always an excitement to her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One of 13 siblings, she is preceded in death by her brothers Tony, Steve, John, Frank, Joe, Bill, Charlie and Jim Csonka and her sisters Mary Jones and Liz Huhn and her granddaughter Jackie Schulz. She is survived by her two remaining siblings, Andy Csonka and Helen Dahlgren. She had various jobs over the years such as selling Avon products but she is always remembered for the twenty years that she worked at the candy shop Fanny Farmer, slipping sweet chocolately surprises to her grandkids when they would visit. In her early years, her favorite past time was being a member of a bowling league where she won several trophies. She developed a love for gardening, traveling to visit family and friends, testing her luck on the slots at a local casino and getting lost in a good, suspenseful book. As a devout catholic, she attended Mass every Sunday, come rain or shine. Her faith carried her through every troubling time in her life, with her belief in the power of the Lord never wavering. It is with heavy hearts that we must say farewell to a wonderful woman like Anna, who has touched so many lives. We are comforted by the knowledge that she is resting peacefully with her Lord and Savior and is once again reunited with her true love, Ron. The family will receive friends TODAY from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Bernard/St. Mary Catholic Church, 44 University Ave. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
